Registration is now open for IL Palooza 2019!

Join us on Tuesday, April 23 from 9:00am-12:00pm at MacEwan University’s John L. Haar Library for a free information literacy conference.

IL Palooza 2019 will kick off with a panel discussion on inclusive IL practices, doing a lot with a little, and engagement strategies that work. Our panel will feature experiences and insights from:

  • Nancy Goebel, Head Librarian, Augustana Campus, University of Alberta
  • Liz Fulton-Lyne, Associate Chair of Library Instruction, Norquest College
  • Karina Dunn, Assistant Librarian, Vanguard College

The panel will be followed by a coffee break and breakout sessions facilitated by our panelists on the following topics:

  • Developing Session-specific Outcomes: Karina Dunn, Vanguard College
  • Integrating Inclusive Teaching Practices in IL: Liz Fulton-Lyne, Norquest College
  • Empathy in Library Instruction: Nancy Goebel, Head Librarian, Augustana Campus Library, University of Alberta

Call for Lightning Talks Extended to April 4th

We have extended our call for Lightning Talks!

Do you have an innovative solution or practical approach to an in-person or online instructional challenge? Are you excited about an emerging trend in information literacy instruction? We would love to hear about it!

IL Palooza Lightning Talks are a great way to showcase ideas, best practices, and new initiatives. Lightning talks are no more than five (5) minutes in length and will be followed by a question and answer period for all presenters.

If you are interested in presenting a lightning talk, please send a short description of no more than 100 words, along with the title, presenter name(s) and contact information tomacewaninfolit@gmail.com by Thursday, April 4th 

IL Palooza is a friendly, casual, information literacy workshop where instructional library folks from across Alberta will gather and share effective information literacy strategies, innovations and trends. This event is open to anyone looking to learn about information literacy instruction!

Nominate a local information literacy hero!

IL Palooza 2019 will be about recognizing & learning from the IL heroes among us! Our goal this year is to assemble a panel of IL library folks (academic, public, health, and beyond) who, over the long run, have put knowledge, creativity, and passion towards keeping their instruction fresh and effective. To this end, Please share with us the name of a local IL whiz who has long inspired you!
